Context

NITI Aayog's Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) launched the 'WE Rise – Women Entrepreneurs Reimagining Inclusive and Sustainable Enterprises' initiative in collaboration with DP World.  

What is the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP)?

It was established by NITI Aayog in 2017, to  provide a centralized portal for comprehensive information and services for women entrepreneurs.

It assists women entrepreneurs in achieving their entrepreneurial goals and developing sustainable business strategies.

WEP operates on three core pillars:

  • Ichha Shakti (Aspiration): Motivating aspiring entrepreneurs to start their ventures.
  • Gyaan Shakti (Knowledge): Providing knowledge and ecosystem support to foster entrepreneurship.
  • Karma Shakti (Action): Offering hands-on support for setting up and scaling businesses.

It transformed into a public-private partnership in 2022.

It has engaged over 90,000 women entrepreneurs through collaborations with more than 47 public and private sector organizations. (Source: PIB)

  • Market Linkages
  • Training and Skilling
  • Mentoring and Networking
  • Compliance and Legal Assistance

What is the 'WE Rise Initiative'?

The 'WE Rise Initiative' is a public-private collaboration launched under WEP's 'Award to Reward (ATR)' framework. 

The ATR initiative, launched in 2023, provides a framework for stakeholders to develop impactful programs and celebrate women entrepreneurs' success.

Key features and objectives of 'WE Rise' include:

  • Global Scaling: Assisting women-led businesses in expanding their reach to international markets.
  • Mentorship and Capacity Building: Identifying and mentoring 100 high-potential women entrepreneurs to enhance their export readiness.
  • Trade Facilitation: Leveraging DP World's global logistics network and international trade expertise to support women entrepreneurs.
  • Market Access: Providing selected entrepreneurs with the opportunity to showcase their products at Bharat Mart in Dubai, offering access to international buyers.

This initiative directly aligns with the vision of women-led economic development and inclusive growth, particularly supporting the 'Viksit Bharat @2047' national vision.
