The Indian Army recently completed 'Op Netra 1.0' in Leh, Ladakh.  

  About Op Netra 1.0 

  • What it is: A four-day high-altitude mega Advanced Surgical Eye Camp in Leh, Ladakh.
  • Key Organizers: The Fire & Fury Corps in collaboration with the Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi.
  • This initiative builds upon the success of Operation Drishti, which was conducted in November 2025 at Command Hospital Udhampur.

Technological Integration 

Launched  of the indigenous Op Netra App, which introduced digital precision to field medicine:

  • End-to-End Digitization: The app manages patient records, diagnostic data, and surgical scheduling using QR code-based identification.
  • Surgical Safety: By automating the identification process, the app minimized the risk of manual errors in a high-volume, high-stress environment.

Strategic Significance

Border Area Management & 'WHAM' Strategy: Op Netra 1.0 is part of Operation Sadbhavana, a human-centric "Winning Hearts and Minds" (WHAM) strategy launched by the Indian Army in the late 1990s. 

  • Sadbhavana uses the military's logistical strength to fulfill basic needs in remote, insurgency-affected, or border regions across five pillars: Healthcare, Education, Women & Youth Empowerment, Infrastructure, and National Integration Tours.

Civil-Military Synergy: The camp exemplifies cooperation between the military, civilian medics, and local officials. The Indian Air Force (IAF) provided support by airlifting advanced medical equipment to the high-altitude site.
