  • The Prime Minister inaugurated the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fibre Connection (KLI-SOFC) project in Kavaratti, Lakshadweep.

  • Funding and Project Execution: The project is funded by the Universal Services Obligation Fund (USOF), Department of Telecommunications. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) served as the Project Executing Agency, and the work was awarded to M/s NEC Corporation India Pvt Ltd through a Global Open Tendering process.


  • The project is expected to bring about transformative changes in the digital landscape of Lakshadweep, fostering economic development and improving the quality of life for its residents.
