Context

India achieved a significant milestone in horticultural exports when it sent its first shipment of rose-scented litchis from Pathankot, Punjab, to Qatar.  APEDA coordinated the event in collaboration with the Punjab Horticulture Department.

About Litchis

It is a juicy, aromatic fruit rich in sugars, vitamins, and minerals. Belongs to the Sapindaceae family.

Uses

Consumed fresh, canned, or dried.

Origin

Native to southern China; introduced to India via Myanmar and Northeast India in the 18th century.
