  • More than 200 technology providers are expected to showcase their products.

  • Further, beneficiaries (house owners) will have access to innovative, rapid and cost-effective construction technologies and materials for use. It will also help devising strategies, action plan and roadmap for achieving the vision of “Future Ready Urban India” focussed on urban housing during the ‘Amrit Kaal’.

A Brief Background on Sustainable Housing

The environmental impact during construction of spaces like buildings is quite massive. In most cases, they account for extensive debris, disturbance of the soil and topography of the area, as well as severe energy consumption along with toxic waste. Green buildings, however, are revolutionizing this concept by emerging as eco-friendly, energy saving and low waste generating solutions. A green building has been defined as one which uses less water, optimises energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building. A green building is created from natural and sustainable materials. There are several ways we can make residential properties green. The most common among them is the use of low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions in the interior materials of a building. It ensures that the building has a continuous supply of fresh air.

India has the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) which actively promotes the concept of green building in the country. Developers are utilizing sustainability techniques like installing solar panels, recycling units, and other design and construction strategies to preserve natural resources and improve the overall life quality of residents. All these require adoption of alternative technologies.
