The India Energy Stack (IES) initiative by the Ministry of Power to revolutionize the energy sector through a unified digital infrastructure.
It is conceptualized as a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) specifically for the energy sector, it will function as a foundational digital platform that provides standardized, secure, and open access for various stakeholders within the energy ecosystem.
It aims to integrate various aspects of the electricity value chain, from generation and transmission to distribution and consumption.
The platform emphasizes data security while ensuring different systems and applications can communicate and share information seamlessly.
Unique IDs => Assign unique identifiers for consumers, energy assets (like transformers, meters), and financial transactions, to enable precise tracking and management.
Real-time, Consent-based Data Sharing => Allow real-time data exchange, but only with the consent of the data owner, which empowers consumers with control over their energy data.
Open APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) => Offer open APIs, allowing different software systems and applications to integrate seamlessly with the platform., which promotes innovation by allowing third-party developers to build new services.
Tools for Empowerment and Innovation => Provide tools that empower consumers with better information, promote market access for new players, and foster innovation within the energy sector.
Task Force => A dedicated Task Force, including experts from technology, the power sector, and regulatory domains, has been constituted. This body is responsible for guiding the concept, development, pilot implementation, and eventual nationwide scale-up of the IES.
Proof of Concept (PoC) => The Ministry is launching a 12-month Proof of Concept (PoC) phase, which involves demonstrating the IES's capabilities through real-world use cases in partnership with selected utilities.
Utility Intelligence Platform (UIP) => It is a modular, analytics-driven application built on the IES, to provide real-time insights to utilities, policymakers, and consumers, allowing smarter energy management.
