Ovarian Reserve: Female animals are born with a finite reservoir of egg cells (oocytes), known as the ovarian reserve.

Unlike sperm, these vital egg cells cannot be replaced.

Declining factors: Oxidative damage, inflammation, and general cellular wear all contribute to the normal fall of egg number and quality over time, which worsens with age.

What are stratovolcanoes?

  • Stratovolcanoes have steeper sides and are more cone-shaped than shield volcanoes.
  • Compared to flat shield volcanoes, they have taller peaks. Stratovolcanoes typically have a tiny crater at their peaks.
  • They are made of viscous, sticky lava that does not flow smoothly.  Lava builds up around the vent, creating a volcano with steep slopes.
  • Stratovolcanoes are prone to explosive eruptions as gas accumulates in the viscous magma.
