The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry launched the 70th-year celebrations of EEPC India.

About Engineering Exports Promotion Council (EEPC) India

EEPC India

  • It is the trade and investment promotion organization for the engineering sector, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
  • It was established in 1955 and now has more than 12,000 members, with SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) accounting for 60% of the total.

Function

  • As an advisory body, it actively contributes to policy development for the Union Government, acting as the link between the engineering industry and the government.
  • It organizes buyer-seller meetings (BSMs), overseas trade fairs/exhibitions, India pavilions/information booths at select international exhibitions, and supports the India Engineering Exhibition (INDEE).
  • It organizes the India Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) to highlight technology and connect global buyers and sellers.
  • It publishes several reports/studies on international trends and opportunities.

Significance 

  • It has played an important role in developing the nation's capabilities in a variety of engineering sectors, including mobility, capital goods, and steel.
  • It has set a target of $300 billion in exports by 2030.
  • It started a monthly magazine "ie2" to cover current trends of the global economy, international trade and the Indian Economy.
  • It has opened two technology centres in Bangalore and Calcutta and conducts regular programmes on technology developments and modules.
