The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) initiative launched to strengthen healthcare services for women and children across India, with a focus on improving access, quality care, and awareness.
The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA), meaning "Healthy Woman, Empowered Family" Campaign (till 2nd October 2025), is a Jan Bhagidaari Abhiyaan launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD).
It aims to strengthen healthcare services for women and children by improving access, quality care, and awareness across urban, rural, and tribal areas.
It will organize health camps at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, and other facilities, promoting nutrition, health awareness, and family well-being.
It integrates with existing platforms like Anganwadis and leverages digital tools for monitoring, supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by addressing gaps in maternal and child health identified in national surveys such as the National Family Health Survey (NFHS).
Enhance Women’s Health Through Comprehensive Screening and Services
Provide screenings for conditions like anaemia, hypertension, diabetes, reproductive health issues, breast and cervical cancer, tuberculosis (TB), sickle cell disease (SCD), and dermatological concerns, with specialized counselling in tribal areas.
Promote Family Well-Being via Maternal and Child Care
Offer antenatal care (ANC) check-ups, immunizations for pregnant women and children, and distribution of Mother and Child Protection (MCP) cards.
Encourage Behaviour Changes
Educate communities on menstrual hygiene, balanced nutrition, and wellness via workshops during Poshan Maah at Anganwadis.
Massive Health Camps
Over one lakh camps nationwide, focusing on screenings, consultations by specialists (gynaecologists, surgeons, dentists), and services like immunizations and nutrition counselling.
Digital Integration
Beneficiaries enrolled under PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat), Ayushman Vaya Vandana, and ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account).
Community and Volunteer Engagement
Involves Nikshay Mitras, volunteers, and organizations like the Indian Red Cross for blood donation drives.
Media and Awareness Platforms
Utilizes Doordarshan, All India Radio (AIR), and social media for campaigns, tied to Poshan Maah activities at Anganwadis.
Alignment with Existing Schemes
Builds on Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (free maternal/child care), Janani Suraksha Yojana (cash incentives for deliveries), Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) (safe motherhood), Mission Indradhanush (immunizations), Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA)(antenatal check-ups), Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)(maternity benefits), and Suposhit Gram Panchayat Abhiyaan (nutrition rewards).
Enhanced Health Metrics
Expected to reduce maternal mortality rate (MMR) through Comprehensive antenatal care (ANC), screenings, and immunizations. Early detection of anemia, hypertension, diabetes, and cancers will improve outcomes, building on schemes like JSSK (16.60 crore beneficiaries) and JSY (11.07 crore beneficiaries).
Increased Awareness of Hygiene and Wellness
Educational sessions will boost knowledge on menstrual hygiene and nutrition, leading to behavioral changes and lower disease burdens, amplified by media outreach.
Expanded Healthcare Access in Underserved Regions
Targets rural/tribal areas with specialist services and drives, ensuring equitable coverage, aligning with Mission Shakti's inclusivity.
Overall, the campaign aims to create empowered families and reduce health inequities for sustainable development.
