Context:

• Recently, the Minister of Education Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) was virtually inaugurated between 2021 and 2022.

About Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar

• It was created by the Ministry of Education to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in hygiene and hygiene practices in schools.
• First launched in 2016-17.
• The purpose of the SVP is to honor schools that have taken significant steps to fulfill the mission of the Swachh Vidyalaya campaign.
• SVP 2021-22 is open to all school classes. That is, rural and urban state, state support and private schools.

Evaluation

• Schools are rated in six subcategories via online portals and mobile apps.
• Categories for water, sanitation, hand washing with soap, operation and maintenance, behavioral change and capacity building, and the newly added COVID 19 preparation and response.
• Schools are recognized at the district, state, and national levels based on an internationally recognized five-star rating system.
