Context

• Science and Technology Ministry launched the Support for Up-gradation Preventive Repair and Maintenance of Equipment (SUPREME), initiative.

About

• The Support for Up-gradation Preventive Repair and Maintenance of Equipment (SUPREME), is a first-of-its-kind programme by the government, that extends financial support for repair, upgradation, maintenance, retrofitting, or acquiring additional attachments to increase functional capabilities of existing analytical instrumentation facilities.
• Such facilities at institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) are eligible to apply for grants under SUPREME.

Analytical Instruments

• Analytical instruments are a huge class of instruments which are used for analytical applications in pharmaceutical, chemical, oil refineries, clinical, and food processing laboratories.
• These instruments help in establishing the composition and analyzing materials.
• Most common types of analytical equipment’s are refractometer, spectrophotometer, electrochemical instrument, calorimeter, automatic density meter, conductivity meter, colony counter, automatic titrators, fiberscopes, demagnetizers, and many others.

Analytical testing applications

• Analytical laboratory instruments are used in number of fields. Analytical lab instruments are not only used in laboratory environment, but it also on the arena. They include, but are not limited for the below mentioned areas:
