What is a Hybrid Solar Eclipse?

  • A hybrid Solar Eclipse occurs when there is a combination of an annular eclipse and a total solar eclipse.
  • It is caused when the moon's shadow moves across Earth - making a transition to another.
  • During this rare eclipse, the Sun forms a ring-like shape - known as the ‘ring of fire’ - for a few seconds.

Ningaloo Eclipse: where will it be visible?

  • The eclipse will be visible from Australia, East and South Asia, the Pacific Ocean, Antarctica, and the Indian Ocean, however, not in India.
  • During the ‘annual ring of fire’ - it will be visible for a few seconds in the Indian and Pacific oceans.
