Context - The Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship presented the Status report on TEJAS Project in the Lok Sabha.
Details
- Under the Pilot project Training in Emirates Job and Skills (TEJAS), candidates after training and certification are positioned in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
- The Government launched the SWADES (Skilled Workers Arrival Database for Employment Support) scheme to create a database of skill sets and experiences of the returning citizens under the Vande Bharat Mission.
- The TEJAS Scheme is also applicable to returnee workers.
SWADES Scheme
- SWADES (Skilled Workers Arrival Database for Employment Support) scheme was launched by the Union government to conduct a skill mapping exercise for the returning citizens under the Vande Bharat Mission.
- It is a joint initiative of;
- The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation.
- The Ministry of External Affairs.
- National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is the implementing body of the project.
- The objective is to create a database of qualified citizens based on their skill sets and experience.
- The collected data will be shared with the companies to provide them with appropriate job opportunities in the country.
- The returning citizens are required to fill up an online application for SWADES Skills Card.
