IGBC is India's Premier certification body, headquartered in Hyderabad. IGBC is the founding member of the World Green Building Council discussing global issues at COP and similar global platforms. IGBC was formed in 2001 as part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of India, partnering Industry, Government and civil society, through advisory and consultative processes. CII is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization, with around 9,000 members from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over 365,000 enterprises from 294 national and regional sectoral industry bodies. The IGBC rating systems are voluntary, consensus-based, market-driven programs. The rating systems are based on the five elements of nature. Vision: The vision of IGBC is to facilitate India's emergence as a global leader in green buildings and green-built environments by 2025. In a span of the last 2 decades, CII-IGBC through its multi-pronged approach could facilitate in bringing about a paradigm shift in the way buildings are conceived and designed across various forms of built environment. |
