Context

• Third Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge, LSAM 17 (Yard 127) was launched. 

Details

• The ACTCM Barge is a 'Make in India' initiative of the Ministry of Defence.
• The Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge auxiliary equipment/systems have been sourced from indigenous manufacturers.
• This Barge is the proud flag bearer of the “Make in India” initiative of the Ministry of Defence.
• Contract for Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge was concluded with M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane, a MSME.
• This is in consonance with the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives of the Government of India.
• The MSME shipyard has successfully delivered two Barges.
• These Barges are being built under the classification rules of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).
• The Indian Navy will use the ACTCM barges to undertake the mission needs for embarking or disembarking ammunition, torpedoes, and missiles.

Significance

• The project adds another milestone to the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiative of the Government of India.
