INS Nistar is India’s first indigenously built Diving Support Vessel (DSV), developed by Hindustan Shipyard Limited to support submarine rescue, deep-sea diving, and underwater operations. With over 80% indigenous content, it significantly enhances India’s maritime capability and underwater preparedness in the Indian Ocean Region.

INS Nistar was a submarine rescue vessel which was acquired by the Indian Navy from the erstwhile USSR in 1969 and was commissioned in 1971.
