• The Ministry of Defense has launched the “GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS 2024)” of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata.

About GAINS 2024

The "GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS 2024)" is an ambitious initiative launched by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) to promote innovation within India’s defense sector. It is a unique national scheme to encourage and enable MSMEs and Start-Ups to develop innovative solutions that GRSE may incorporate for further technological advancement.

Aim: The aim is to leverage the vast eco-system of MSMEs and Start-Ups to address present and emerging challenges in the ship design and construction industry, while achieving the objectives of Atmanirbharta.

Objectives of GAINS 2024 GAINS 2024:

• Encourage Innovation: Cultivate a culture of innovation by providing a platform for startups and innovators to present their cutting-edge solutions.
• Enhance Collaboration: Substitute collaboration between defense public sector undertakings, private industries, academic institutions, and research organizations.
• Boost Defense Capabilities: Enhance the operational effectiveness and technological prowess of the Indian armed forces through innovative projects.
• Support Indigenous Development: Facilitate the development of indigenous technologies in line with the ’Make in India’ initiative and reduce dependence on foreign technology.

Key Features of GAINS 2024

• Open Innovation Challenges: GRSE will host a series of challenges focused on specific problem statements related to defense needs. Innovators will be invited to propose solutions to these challenges.
• Funding and Support: Selected projects will receive funding and technical support from GRSE, including access to its infrastructure and expertise.
• Mentorship and Training: Participants will receive mentorship from industry experts and GRSE professionals, aiding in the refinement and development of their innovations.
• IPR and Commercialization Support: GAINS 2024 will assist innovators in protecting their intellectual property rights and provide pathways for commercialization of successful technologies.
