• The Indian Army contingent departed for the fifth edition of the India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise DUSTLIK, which is scheduled to take place at Termez in Uzbekistan.

Details of the exercise:

• The exercise is conducted annually, alternating between India and Uzbekistan.
• The previous edition took place in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, in February of the previous year.

Objectives and Focus Areas:

• The exercise aims to foster military cooperation and enhance combined capabilities for executing joint operations in mountainous and semi-urban terrain.
• Focus areas include achieving a high degree of physical fitness, joint planning, tactical drills, and the basics of special arms skills.

Facilitation of Interoperability:

• DUSTLIK provides a platform for the sharing of best practices and facilitates interoperability between the Indian and Uzbekistani armed forces.
