The Union Government launches Ayush Suraksha Portal to monitor misleading ads and adverse drug reactions in traditional medicine.
The Supreme Court in July 2024, directed the Union government to create a centralized system to monitor misleading ads and ADRs for ASU&H medicines. The Court set a deadline of June 2025.
The Ministry of Ayush launched the Ayush Suraksha Portal to strengthen consumer safety and regulate traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy (ASU&H).
The portal addresses two challenges in the Ayush sector: misleading advertisements and adverse drug reactions (ADRs).
By providing a centralized digital dashboard, it empowers citizens, healthcare professionals, and regulatory authorities to participate in safeguarding the integrity of traditional medicine systems.

Reporting Issues => Anyone—citizens, doctors, or regulators—can report misleading ads or harmful side effects of ASU&H medicines directly on the portal. This makes it user-friendly and accessible.
Real-Time Monitoring => The system tracks complaints in real time, allowing quick action against false claims or unsafe products.
Coordination Among Authorities => It connects multiple bodies like the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoI&B), Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), and State Licensing Authorities. This ensures a unified response.
Transparency => The portal publicly displays complaint details and actions taken, allowing people to know their concerns status.
Data Analysis => It collects and analyzes data to identify patterns in misleading ads or ADRs, to help regulators to make informed decisions.
The Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) provided technical support, aligning the portal with the National Pharmacovigilance Program, which monitors drug safety.
