About the Pavana River

• It is located in the Pune District of Maharashtra.
• The river is a significant one that separates Pune City from the Pimpri-Chinchwad District.
• It originates from the Western Ghats, approximately 6 kilometers south of Lonavala.
• It is a tributary of the Bhima River that flows into the Mula River in Pune.
• Initially flowing eastward, it swings south and passes through the suburbs of Dehu, Chinchwad, Pimpri, and Dapodi before joining the Mula River.
• The "Pavana Nagar Dam" is being built on this river at Pavana Nagar.

Origin of the Pavana River

• It originates in the Western Ghats, around 6 kilometers south of Lonavala.
• The river rises in the Western Ghats south of Lonavala and travels for approximately 60 kilometers until joining the Mula River in Pune.
• The Mula River, which later joins with the Mutha River to form the Mula-Mutha River, eventually flows into the Bhima River (the Krishna River's largest tributary).
