About World Wealth Report

It covers 71 countries, which together account for over 98% of the global gross national income and 99% of the world's stock market capitalization.

The report defines High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) as those with investable assets of $1 million or more, excluding their primary residence and other collectibles.

The report categorizes HNWIs into three tiers:

  • Millionaires Next Door: Individuals with a wealth of $1 million to $5 million.
  • Mid-Tier Millionaires: Those with wealth ranging from $5 million to $30 million.
  • Ultra-HNWIs (UHNWIs): Individuals with $30 million or more in investable assets.

Highlights of the Report

The global HNWI population increased by 2.6% in 2024. This growth was largely driven by a 6.2% surge in the UHNWI population, fueled by strong stock market performances and optimism around Artificial Intelligence.

The United States led the world in adding new millionaires, with an increase of 562,000, bringing its total HNWI population to 7.9 million.

The US is home to 36% of the world's centi-millionaires (those with over $100 million) and 33% of the world's billionaires.

Alternative investments, such as private equity and cryptocurrencies, now make up a significant 15% of HNWI portfolios.

China witnessed a 1.0% decline in its HNWI population.
