China has crossed its 1960 claims along the LAC

Context:

• Chinese troops are currently present on the north bank of Pangong Lake in Ladakh in an area that is beyond what even China described as its official boundary during talks with India in 1960.

Official records:

• Earlier Chinese claim in Pangong Lake: Finger 8; now claiming Finger 4.

• Fingers refer to mountain spurs on the bank of the Lake, and run from 1 to 8, west to east.

2. At Galwan Valley: Official records- Y-Nallah; Chinese are claiming: West of Y-Nallah up to bend of Galwan river.
