PM-SETU, which stands for "Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs," is a centrally sponsored scheme launched by the Government of India. It aims to upgrade 1,000 government-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country to transform them into modern, industry-relevant training institutions.
The primary goal is to strengthen India's skilling ecosystem and provide young people with modern, industry-aligned skills to enhance their employability. This is done by revamping curricula, introducing demand-driven courses, and fostering a strong link between industry and ITIs.
The scheme will align the curricula of ITIs with the present and future skill demands of the industry. By equipping youth with industry-specific skills through modern machinery and expert training, PM-SETU will help connect Indian youth with global skill requirements and enhance their employability.
