GS PAPER II: Bilateral, regional and global groupings and agreements involving India and/or affecting India’s interests.

Context: India completed its tenure as Chair of Governing Body of International Labour Organization after holding the position for the period October 2020- June 2021.

India had assumed the Chairmanship of the Governing Body of International Labour Organization after a gap of 35 years.
During India’s Chairmanship, the sessions of the Governing Body held in October 2020 and March 2021 and the 109th session of the International Labour Conference held in June 2021 were conducted through virtual mode.

About ILO:

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a United Nations agency whose mandate is to advance social and economic justice through setting international labour standards.
