Context:

Mera Yuva Bharat is recruiting youth volunteers in Thiruvananthapuram for disaster management training to enhance community resilience and emergency preparedness.

Details

Volunteers will train in:

• Rescue operations and evacuation efforts to save lives.
• First aid and emergency care to stabilize victims.
• Traffic management and crowd control to maintain order.
• Disaster rehabilitation to support recovery efforts.
• Assisting government agencies and local bodies during crises.

This initiative aligns with the National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP) 2016, which emphasizes community participation in disaster risk reduction.  

A trained volunteer force enhances India’s disaster preparedness, complementing professional agencies like the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

They will receive training, which involves collaboration with national and state disaster management agencies, likely including the NDMA, State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), and Fire and Rescue Services.

About Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat)

It is a platform to engage youth in nation-building activities. 

It operates under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and focuses on leadership, volunteering, and skill development.

MY Bharat as an autonomous body, meaning it has operational freedom to execute programs like the disaster management initiative.

It aims to connect youth with opportunities to contribute to nation progress, aligning with schemes like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (promoting cultural unity).

MY Bharat utilizes India’s demographic dividend, channeling youth energy into productive roles. This aligns with schemes like National Youth Policy 2021, which prioritizes skill development and civic engagement.
