Context

  • The sea phase of second edition of bilateral exercise 'Al Mohed Al Hindi 23', between Indian Navy and Royal Saudi Naval Force (RSNF) was held off Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

Details

  • INS Tarkash, INS Subhadra and Dornier Maritime Patrol aircraft (MPA) participated in the exercise from the Indian side.
  • The RSNF was represented by HMS Badr and Abdul Aziz, MH 60R helo and UAV.

About INS Tarkash

  • It is a Talwar class stealth frigate that was commissioned in 2012.
  • The ship’s name means “Quiver of Arrows,” which honours its agility and adaptability.
  • It participated in humanitarian missions such as Operation Raahat (Yemen) in 2015 and Operation Kaveri (Sudan) in 2023.

About INS Subhadra

  • It is a patrol vessel of the Sukanya class.
  • This ship has been used to test the Dhanush ship-launched ballistic missile, as well as accompanying stabilisation and launch systems.
