Context - The Union Government has constituted a committee to investigate the Ramban Tunnel Collapse.

Details

• The Union Government has constituted 3 member committee to investigate the reasons for the collapse of a part of an under-construction tunnel in Ramban on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
  • Professor J.T. Sahu of the IIT, Delhi will be the chairman of the committee, and it will submit the report within 10 days.
• National Highways Authority of India has also initiated a process to handle such emergencies and is taking every possible measure to avoid such incidents in future.
• The area is also prone to frequent landslides.
