UNCHECKED TOURISM : THREATENS BIODIVERSITY

Mahendra Giri Hills, located in Odisha's Gajapati district, are part of the Eastern Ghats and rise to 1,501 metres above sea level. Declared a Biodiversity Heritage Site in 2022, the region is rich in flora and fauna, housing over 1,300 plant species and nearly 400 animal species, many of which are endangered and endemic.
