DR CONGO M23 CONFLICT: EXPLAINED

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the M23 rebel group have reached a truce, known as the Doha Declaration of Principles. The M23, a Tutsi-based rebel group, intensified its activities in 2021 and escalated the conflict in 2025, rooted in the 1994 Rwandan genocide and the country's mineral resources.
