About
- The Collins Dictionary’s word of the year for 2022 is “permacrisis”.
- The word is most widely understood as ‘an extended period of instability and insecurity, esp one resulting from a series of catastrophic events’.
- This concept of permacrisis has its roots in contemporary systems theory, which claims that a crisis can become so complicated that we can’t predict its outcome.
- Any decision to tackle those risks only makes things worse.
